Received from Eretz Yisroel:
Rivka Rachel bas Brana is a young 31 year-old mother of three who just received a sudden and very dire diagnosis, with no medical recourse. They were told by gedolim with whom they consulted that the only hope is through massive tefilla. They are asking all individuals and mosdos to daven for her. Please do so, and pass the name on to as many people as you can. (Calling your kids' schools to put her on their Tehillim lists would be great.) Kind regards, (Rebz) Rivka Moore There is a very good deal for membership at the Museum of Science and Industry, $89 for a family membership (instead of $155) which lasts through Oct 2015 (next Tishrei).

County State’s Attorney’s Office, Chicago Police Department, and the Anti-Defamation League we invite you to participate and contribute to the conversation on Hate Crimes. October will mark the fifth anniversary of the Matthew Shepard & James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act that President Obama signed into law in October, 2009. In commemoration of the signing of the law, and because hate crimes continue to be an everyday reality, we invite you to join us for Chicago’s Hate Crime Summit 2014.Through the Hate Crime Summit, we aim to raise awareness regarding hate crimes, address the barriers to reporting hate crimes, and provide opportunities for networking and collaboration. Audiences we seek to serve include educators, students, law enforcement, researchers, service providers, and the general community. Hate crimes cause unique harm, both to the victim and to an entire community. Understanding that no single agency or community based organization can address the issue of hate crimes, we are working together to bring attention to the issue so that communities that might be impacted have an understanding of the significance, how to report, and what to expect when they report to law enforcement, and provide opportunities to discuss community response and prevention including restorative justice practices. The 6 breakout sessions will be delivered by a diverse and engaging group of service providers for what we hope will be productive conversations about the issue of hate crimes We will provide free breakfast and lunch, with advance registration. Click here to register and view breakout presenters and facilitators! http://www.uic.edu/orgs/violencecenter/HateCrimeSummit.pdf. Please forward widely to your networks!
