Dear K.I.N.S. Community,
It is our great pleasure to inform you that our search for an assistant rabbi has concluded, and that Rabbi Dov Lerner will be assuming this important role at KINS starting on Rosh Chodesh Elul.
Rabbi Lerner is a musmach of the YU/RIETS program and a current doctoral student at the University of Chicago, where he serves as the Orthodox student advisor at Hillel. Rabbi Lerner was born and raised in London, and studied for three years in Israel at Yeshivat Har Etzion. While at Yeshiva University, Rabbi Lerner was a Fellow in the Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought, a rabbinic intern at Lincoln Square Synagogue, and a shiur assistant for Rabbi Daniel Rapp.
For the past year, he and his wife Miriam, who is a teacher at Ida Crown Jewish Academy, have lived in our community and davened at KINS. Rabbi Lerner also served as the coordinator of our Bnei Akiva Minyan and taught our most popular shiur in Tehillim every Wednesday afternoon.
As Assistant Rabbi, Rabbi Lerner will be working closely with Rabbi Matanky, as well as focusing on outreach to new members, establishing new learning opportunities, and maintaining the strong relationship he has built with our youth.
We would like to express our appreciation to the Search Committee, the Board of Directors, and the shul membership for helping and guiding us through the search process.
Please join us in welcoming Rabbi and Mrs. Lerner to the KINS family. We look forward to Rabbi Lerner's rabbinic leadership, and anticipate that KINS and the entire community will benefit from his warmth and Torah scholarship.
B'vracha,
Lev Katz Dr. Eli Jacobs
